Sorry It Took So Long

I haven't blogged in a while. Sorry.

Wendy made an interesting observation on her blog today. I, too, hate when people don't do as they say. It especially upsets me when Caleb is involved. People tell him all the time, "I'm coming to your game" and then they don't show up. It hurts his feelings. It hurts my feelings. I think I am going to start calling people out on it, so don't tell me you're gonna do something if you have no intention of doing it.

You have been warned.

Please Allow Me to Vent

It is rude to show up late for your doctor's appointment. There. I said it. It is rude to show up late for any appointment and just expect to be seen. It puts everyone behind.

Work Stress

Work has been stressful this week. Long story short, we have extended our clinic hours. We used to start clinic at 9:00. Starting this week, we added and hour at 8:00. That's four extra patients per day. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I'm used to having that hour to do paperwork and refills and stuff. Now I have to cram everything in between patient appointments. Ugh. We also have staffing issues, so we never have enough people, although today we have had some extra help. Extra hands are always a blessing.

Y'all pray for Karen. I won't go into everything here, but she is really stressed.

See ya!

Back from Vacation

I'm back! I really didn't go anywhere, but I am back at work after a week-long vacation.

I am sad to report that Caleb's football team has lost their last 2 games. Bummer. Hopefully we will win this weekend. If we don't then we won't make the playoffs.

Thanks eversomuch to Wendy for posting those oh-so-flattering pics of me. WTH with my hair? I can't believe y'all let me leave the house like that! I did make a lovely Supreme, though. Too bad there weren't any of Karen with a rattail.

Ooh! That reminds me! I had another gig with Soul Incision last week and it was awesome! I really wasn't in great voice due to a dry cough and sore throat, but it was great anyway. I love performing!

Work has been a little stressful the last 2 days. We are understaffed. Rebekah and I are working our butts off. I mean, we always do, but now we are short one person in our area so we are doing everything. I hope it gets better.

See y'all later!

Vacation

I am on vacation this week, so I will be absent from Blogger unless something really cool happens.

See y'all later!

Better Day

Thanks for the prayers. PTL, I feel much better today. Hopefully today will go by super-fast. It's my late day, so I don't leave work until 6, then I have to drive out to the country to pick up Caleb at Karen's house, so I don't usually get home on Wed until after 8. Come to think of it, that's not really different than any other day when Caleb has football, so I have no clue why I am complaining.

Enough with the rambling.

Anger

I am so angry right now. My doctor has done something - uuhh! I can't even tell you how angry I am at him! He hardly ever upsets me but this takes the cake. I am never this mad. I don't even know what to do with this feeling. I went to my charge nurse and vented in the hope that it would alleviate my anger but I am just so ticked! I just want to scream!

I need to pray. Y'all pray, too. I do not like feeling this way.

Sunday

I slept so late today. I never get to do that, so it was nice.

Caleb's football team had their fifth consecutive shutout yesterday! It was awesome! Bordeaux was, by far, the toughest team we have played yet. We were only up by 7 at halftime, but we ended up winning 19-0. Our toughest games are coming up, Mt. Juliet, Smyrna, and Franklin. Go Mustangs!

Check out the video of the Mustangs Victory Tunnel - Caleb is #22.

I had to take my mom to the ER last night. I thought she was having a heart attack. PTL - she's fine! They said it was musculo-skeletal (or skeletor, as I kept trying to say last night). Karen and I are very blessed to work in the medical field. She called the cardiologist she works for on the way to the ER and he was on standby just in case. We were in and out within 2 hours, and because Karen knew the ER clerk, Earl, he made everyone aware that she is Dr. Ripley's personal assistant, so I think they were extra-efficient. The ER doctor took the time to call Dr. Ripley to let him know that she thought mom was OK to go, and he agreed. Thank you, Lord!

See y'all later!

My Neck Hurts

So I woke up Saturday morning and my neck hurt so badly that I could hardly turn my head. I don't know what I was doing in my sleep, but my neck was killing me. It's Tuesday now and it still is not completely resolved. Now it's not so much painful as annoying.

Caleb's football team beat the Old Hickory Bulldogs on Saturday 31-0. Another shutout! In the second half the refs asked us not to run to the outside, just up the middle, and they told us they were not going to stop the clock because they just wanted to get the game finished. Caleb had four or five good tackles. The other team almost scored on us twice, and our defense held them on the 2 yard line to keep them from scoring. I felt a little sorry for the Bulldogs, but we have a record to uphold. We have outscored our opponents 120-0 in the last four games. Go Mustangs! If only my Vols could do that... or the Titans. I have a sunburn on my left side from sitting out and watching the Titans blow it against the Colts.

So I told Caleb that if he did well, I would buy him some Heelys. He has been begging for them for over a year, but they are $80 and I am just not going to pay that for shoes even if they do have wheels, but when we went to Dick's the night before the game, the sales guy told us they were going to be on sale for $29.99 on Saturday. So Caleb got Heelys. He has almost busted his face several times, but he is getting the hang of it.

I took Caleb to see WWE Raw live last night. It was a good show. We got to sit on the floor level, but Caleb had trouble seeing because people were standing up and holding up signs so I ended up holding him up most of the night. John Cena and Triple H were there, so he was excited.

Nothing much going on today. See y'all later.

Sorry, It's been a while...

Ok, so Caleb's football team is 3-0 and no one has even scored on us yet. Our defense is so solid. We played Brentwood this weekend and they were sore losers! Their coach took them off the field with 2:00 left to play in the game because he was upset that he got two personal fouls and the refs told him he had to leave. He was being really ugly to the officials and after two warnings he was told to leave and didn't, so they tossed him, only he didn't want to leave, so he forfeited. That's a great lesson to teach your kids, huh? What a jerk. Just because you are losing 25-0 doesn't mean you shouldn't stick it out. Then their coach taunted our coach saying that we should come to Brentwood and play, because their field is greener and wider. Our coach told him that a wider field would just give our running backs more room to move! I hope we get to play them again at their field in the playoffs. We'll whoop them then, too.

I went to church on Saturday night this past weekend. I really liked it. Pastor says that if we come to church on Saturday night, he will give us a yard sign that says, "I go to Saturday night service at World Outreach," so peole don't think we are pagans when we are seen washing our cars and such on Sunday morning.

I think my cousin Amy is moving in this week. She's fun and she will be cool to have around. Also, she may be getting a job at Kirkland's, so yay for the discount. Sara recently quit her job at the Pomegranate (did I spell it right, Say?), so no more discount Vera Bradley. I am a VB junkie. I just love her bags! I am currently in love with her new red and white checked saddle bag matching newsie hat. I am going to go to the Peddler and see if they have it. It will be so cute for fall.

Gotta run, chickies!

Nervous for Nothing

My first rehearsal with the band went great! I totally rocked, and everybody said so. I don't know why I get so nervous. After I sang my second song, the drummer said "That song has sucked for seven years, until tonight." He was saying it to joke with and take jabs at the 2 ladies who usually sing lead on that song, but I still took it as a huge compliment. Everyone made me feel right at home and I had a lot of fun.

I am so very bored at work today. Matt is out, so it's just me today. I'm just answering the phone and refilling prescriptions for the next 6 hours. BOOOOORING! Caleb has a football game tomorrow at 3, which means I get to sleep late for the first time in I can't remember how long. Woo Hoo! He also needs a haircut. He's working on a white-man's afro right now. I just never have time to take him. I only like to take him to one place - Drake's Barber Shop in the 'Boro. That guy always cuts his hair right. He likes a flat top, super short on the sides, but not bald. I let my friend Chris cut his hair almost bald one time. Caleb looked like a make-a-wish kid. Anywho, He has school pics next week and football pics the next, so a haircut is a must. Come to think of it, I need one, too.

My Titans won last night! I didn't get to see much, but I heard it was great! I can't wait for the regular season. Also, my Vols play on Saturday night in prime time, thank you very much. I am going to Matt's house to watch it in HD. He won't be there, so Caleb and I will chill at his house for the evening. He has a great house - it should be fun.

Go Big Orange!! See y'all later!

First Rehearsal

OK, everybody, I have my first rehearsal with Soul Incision tonight. I am extremely nervous. I am a great singer so I shouldn't be, right? I feel like I'm gonna puke.

Karen, thanks for your help tonite. I know it's hot and football practice is no fun. I love you.

Y'all pray!

Baby Nonsense

My dear friend Melissa had a baby today. I haven't seen him yet, but she says he looks like his dad. My uncle's wife had a baby a few days ago. People keep asking me "doesn't it make you want another one?" NO! I am happy with the one I have. It's hard to improve on Caleb. He's smart, funny, athletic, and good looking. Now, if I can just get him to stop peeing on the toilet seat...

Today was much better than yesterday. Doc was in a much better mood, so that automatically makes the day better. AND we got some much needed rain - thank you, Lord!

On Wednesdays, Karen or Jay picks up Caleb for me because I work late. This is a huge help to me, and Karen usually cooks dinner, so I don't have to. So If Caleb has already done his homework, all I have to do when we finally get home tonight is bath and bed. Woo hoo!

Here comes doc. One more patient and I'm done. See y'all later!

Welcome, Baby Something!

I am so stinkin' busy. I feel like I am running a marathon all the time. The alarm goes off at 5:30 and I don't get back home until after 8:00 every night. If not for Jesus, I would be at the Parthenon on a regular basis. I need a vacation. My doc is on my nerves today. He is very rarely in a bad mood, but today... well, today he is. We all have our days, I guess. He puts up with my moods, I guess I shouldn't complain.

I have a new cousin! My uncle Rob and his wife Lurese had a baby boy, named Something Daniel Frizzell. They haven't picked a first name yet. We already have a Daniel Frizzell, so they can't use Daniel as the first name. Not that it isn't a fine name (just in case this gets back to Daniel - I got nothin' but love for ya!). Something is really cute, and does not appear to have Rob's nose (can I get an Amen?) and he has a head full of black hair.

Caleb's team won this weekend, 27-0. He scored the last extra point. I nearly cried. I kinda felt bad for the team we played because they were an inner city team and their uniforms didn't match and they just were not very good. They did score once, but it got called back on a hold. Bless their hearts. We play this Saturday at home at 3:00, if y'all want to come. Bring chairs, because we don't have bleachers on field 2.

I am out of blog fodder now. See y'all soon!

Good Times...

First, a quick weekend update: Caleb's football team won 6-0 against the Franklin Cowboys. We have beaten them 2 weeks straight! Caleb had a couple of great tackles and a fumble recovery. It was dreadfully hot! Then we went to the Titans' game Saturday night. It was also dreadfully hot. We had to wait for the sun to go down behind the stadium so we could go to our seats. We hung out in the Pro Shop for a while because a.) Caleb's dad was in there, b.) it was right outside our section, and c.) it was air conditioned. The air really didn't matter because there were about 500 people in there. Church on Sunday was awesome! We had a surprise guest speaker, Ben Kinchlow, former co-host of the 700 Club. His message was great!

Monday was uneventful, except that I thought Caleb had really hurt his knee at practice. Praise the Lord, he just twisted it and he is fine.

Today has turned out to be a pretty good day. We only have clinic in the morning on Tuesdays, so I have the afternoon to catch up on paperwork. And Blog. I got an email and a phone call from Dr. Pinson and Debbie Kemp from the band "Soul Incision." It is made up of staff from Vanderbilt. They are awesome and they heard me sing at Matt's reception and approached me about doing some gigs with them. We have been in contact a few times since then, but now I actually have dates for gigs! Yay! I am so excited! I will get to show off in front of LOTS of people. Fun stuff, good times.

A Quick Funny...

On the way to football practice last night we were listening to the oldies station and that song by Queen "Another one Bites the Dust" came on and Caleb started singing along. Only he was singing "Another one fights the dust-AH" with great emphasis on the AH over and over again. I was cracking up on the inside - I didn't want him to stop so I couldn't laugh out loud. It reminded me of when Karen was little and she would sing "There's flour in the blood." Kids are funny.

My First Blog

I will dedicate this first blog to Wendy. I have been keeping up with her blog for a while now, so I figure I should let her in on what's up with me. Not that it's all that interesting, but here goes. Let me bring you up to speed. I am 30 years old, I have a tall and handsome son named Caleb - he is 7 years old and one of the most entertaining people I have ever met. He will be starting 2nd grade next week. Freaky! I have a 7 year old!! I live in the 'Boro with my cousin Sara. Sara is my bestest friend. We have always been close, but moreso since she moved in last year. My other bestest friend is my sis, Karen. She used to live with me, but now she lives across town. I am a nurse. I love my job. I have a great boss. I go to World Outreach Church and am striving to be the best Christian I can be.

My life is crazy busy. I work 40+ hours a week, football practice 4 nights a week and games on Saturday. We always have some kind of sports going on, baseball in the spring, football in the fall and winter. Being a single mom is hard, but it beats being married to my ex! That is a whole other story, one that I will not go into now or ever, but just let me sum it up by saying that I was young and stupid and I while I am so glad that I have Caleb, I should not have married his dad. Nuff said. Anywhoo, I have a great life and great friends and I could not be happier right now.

I know that some of you out there know my parents. They live in Jacksonville, Fl. Dad happily, mom not so much. She is getting used to it. She has a MySpace page if you want to say hi. You can find it through mine.

Currently, I am addicted to Big Brother. Ooh, and Big Love. I know, I know, it's all morally reprehensible and what not, but I can't help it. I think Bill Paxton is cute.

I don't know how good I am going to be at this blog thing... we shall see.

Later.
